The Fault in Our Stars

A lot of love stories are considered overrated, written off for being too cheesy or unoriginal. And more often than not, they are. Many are rip-offs of Twilight (which wasn't a great love story to begin with) or continue William Shakespeare's everlasting love triangle, where the girl ALWAYS, and I mean aways, picks the new, interesting guy over her best friend, who reveals his love when he realizes that she is interested in this mysterious guy.
But then there are the few exceptions, the ones who blow all other love stories out of the water and leave you wishing you had a love life exactly like the main characters. Often, fandoms are born out of this. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is that exact story. The characters are brand new faces, not the worn-out versions of Romeo and Juliet. The dialogue is clever and witty, and the plot line keeps you hanging on until the very end.
I cried. Like a lot. Like heart-breaking sobs at two in the morning crying. I fell asleep crying. This book is one of the best, probably soon to be considered a classic in the near future. Augustus and Hazel are extremely well-written characters. They are very relatable, and their circumstances are so eye-opening, it really makes you realize what cancer kids go through. If you want your life to be changed, read this book.
